MONESSEN – A Monessen man was taken into custody Saturday on allegations he possessed a large amount of heroin when police went to his girlfriend’s house to investigate an assault complaint.

District Judge Mark Mansour sent the suspect, Brandon Eugene Carter, 31, of 1017 Highland Ave., to Westmoreland County jail on $100,000 bond on charges that also included endangering the welfare of his 1-year-old son while arguing with the child’s mother, court records indicate.

Police accuse Carter of shattering a glass bottle in close proximity to his son about 6:30 p.m. at 240 Page St., an officer stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.

The boy’s mother, Trisa Stickle, was crying and holding her child when police arrived. She told them Carter “woke up in a rage” because he had lost a large sum of money while the two were out drinking the previous night.

She told police Carter accused her of losing the money and grabbed her by the right arm, leading them to scuffle. The argument moved into a rear bedroom, where Carter held her down on a bed while he struck her at least one time in the ribs, Stickle claimed.

Carter left the room, broke the bottle and then pushed and knocked the child down while leaving the residence, the affidavit alleges.

Police were called back to Stickle’s residence about 8 p.m. because Carter was returned there and allegedly was harassing Stickle while an officer was preparing a warrant for Carter’s arrest. Carter was gone by the time police arrived at the residence and was apprehended a short time later at Indiana Avenue and Manown Street.

After police handcuffed him, an officer reported finding two bricks of heroin and two stray bundles of the drug in a pocket of the shorts Carter was wearing at the time. Police also seized $200 from him, the record indicates.

Carter was jailed on charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession, child endangerment, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
