Road rage charges held for court
A North Strabane Township resident was ordered held for court Monday on road rage-related charges that were filed after an eight-mile car chase on Route 19 in April in which a weapon allegedly was drawn.
Edward Douglas Findley, 22, of 220 Blue Jay Drive, Canonsburg, who is charged with recklessly endangering other persons and possession of a switchblade, remains free on his own recognizance.
The incident allegedly began at Trinity Point shopping center in South Strabane Township on April 22. Angela Sheldon, no address given, was driving a Jeep, and she and her passenger, Thomas Moneypenny, told police the two vehicles continued through North Strabane, but that Findley’s vehicle swerved and changed lanes so it remained in front of theirs. At one point, Sheldon said she pulled off Route 19 hoping Findley would drive away. Instead, North Strabane police allege, Findley also pulled over his car and waited for them.
The vehicles continued north on Route 19, and when a red light stopped traffic at DeMar Boulevard, Moneypenny, owner of the vehicle Sheldon was driving, got out of his car and confronted Findley, demanding he cease. According to court documents, police alleged Findley responded by pointing a handgun at Moneypenny. Moneypenny and Sheldon drove into a hardware store parking lot in neighboring Peters Township and called police, who said Findley’s vehicle also was in the lot when they arrived.
Police said no one was injured, and Findley owned the gun and was licensed to carry a firearm, but the spring-loaded knife was confiscated. District Judge Jay Weller held Findley for trial on all charges.
