Police beat June 25
Assault charge: Alexander Magwood, 40, of 108 S. Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg, was placed in Washington County jail Friday on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly striking his daughter’s boyfriend in his right eye inside their home about 4 a.m. Friday. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and jailed on $25,000 bond.
Assault alleged: Michael A. Holmes, 34, of 166 Caldwell Ave., Canton Township, is charged by state police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he struck his brother, John W. Holmes, nine times with his fist about 1 a.m. Friday in his residence. Michael Holmes is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Accused in assault on nurses: Brittany L. Berger, 21, of 1556 Walters St., Carroll Township, is charged by township police with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct over accusations she assaulted three Mon Valley Hospital nurses in the hospital’s emergency department about 8:45 p.m. June 22, court records show. District Judge Mark Wilson issued a warrant Thursday for Berger’s arrest.
Bad check charges: Home Warehouse of 7 McKean Ave., Charleroi, filed bad check charges Thursday against Sandra D. Ducarme of 7 Davis Road, Carroll Township, and David Masters of 902 Central Ave., New Eagle, court records show. The charges filed before District Judge Larry Hopkins accuse Masters of issuing a bad check to the company for $1,424 in September 2015 and Ducarme of issuing one in October 2014 for $1,400. The charges are filed in private complaints that are being sent via summons.
Theft allegations: Jeffrey A. Lenzi, 43, of 332 Isabella Ave., North Charleroi, is charged by borough police with theft and deceptive business practices over accusations he accepted $600 from Kimberly Cunningham to perform taxidermy work on her dog and did not return with the product, court records show. District Judge Mark Wilson issued a warrant Thursday for Lenzi’s arrest.
Employee theft alleged: Leticia Payne, 30, of 319 Short St., Monessen, is charged by city police with theft and receiving stolen property, court records indicate. Police accuse her of stealing money and merchandise amounting to $4,591 while she worked last year at Puff N Snuff. The company alleged Payne signed a written statement in October indicating she would make restitution for the thefts, mostly of cigarettes, but she never made any payments, police said. District Judge Joseph Dalfonso Friday issued a warrant for Payne’s arrest.
Alleged theft: Susan Fruecht-Hoad, 48, of Virginia, was cited by township police Thursday for stealing $150 of merchandise from Kohl’s, 353 Washington Road.
Hit-and-run: Amy Sanders of Washington reported to township police her vehicle was struck about 2 p.m. Wednesday as she traveled north on Route 19. Sanders said she was rear-ended by a brown tractor-trailer did not stop. No injuries were reported.
Vehicle break-ins: Chris Vidovich reported to police that $225 in sunglasses, clothes and change were stolen from his vehicle Monday night or Tuesday morning while it was parked on Park Terrace. George Barrows reported change was stolen from his car on Crest Avenue Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Also around the same time, Mark Day said his registration and insurance card were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on Crest.
Endangerment charges: Four counts of recklessly endangering another person and a charge of criminal mischief were filed Friday against Jamarious T. Plater, 27, of 962 Addison St., Washington, with District Judge Robert Redlinger. According to Washington police, Plater smashed in the windshield of Alicia Edwards’ vehicle with a metal pipe while her children were in the car June 10 on Catfish Avenue. The children were reportedly covered in glass, and the child in the front seat had minor cuts on her legs. Charges will be sent by summons.
Possession charge: Leslie Kramer, no age given, of 22 Ammons St., West Alexander, was charged Thursday with possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft stemming from an incident Wednesday in Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St. According to police, Kramer took a chocolate bar and placed it in her purse, where police said they subsequently found a syringe and six empty stamp bags suspected to have contained heroin. Charges will be sent from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Possession charges: Kenneth L. Brooks, 23, of 750 Addison St., Washington, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped May 14 at Oakland and Jefferson avenues. According to Washington police, Brooks had 14 empty stamp bags suspected to have contained heroin. Charges will be sent from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Windows smashed: Richard Lassic III, 21, of 47 Shannon Ave., Washington, was charged Friday with criminal mischief for allegedly smashing in all the windows of Cassidy Ardeno’s vehicle June 2. Washington police said the damage exceeded $7,000. Charges will be sent by summons from District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Criminal mischief: Jamie Honeysuckle of Arkansas reported to Washington police a group of teens threw beer bottles at a family Thursday evening as they made their way from their parked car to a home in the 700 block of Allison Avenue. One of the bottles allegedly dented the car, and a man was sprayed with mace by two girls. The group fled and were not located.
