Scouting for a clue
There are a few things we know about this week’s Mystery Photo, aside from the obvious fact these are Boy Scouts.
We know the photo was taken by Donald Dodson, whose collection of images of the Washington area from the 1940s and 1950s is now in the Observer-Reporter’s archives. However, we don’t know where this picture was taken or exactly when, or who the Scouts are.
We’re hoping our readers can identify them.
The foliage in the background indicates the photo might have been taken in summer, so perhaps these boys were attending camp. The troop number – 132 – is visible on one boy’s sleeve, and another holds a patrol flag that reads “Night Owls.”
If you think you know who these boys are or where, when or why they were photographed, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him along with your telephone number at 724-222-2200, extension 2400.
With a little help from our readers, we may be able to solve this puzzle and publish our findings next Monday.
