A Mt. Morris teen faces charges in connection with a rash of vehicle break-ins in Cumberland Township last week.

Lucas Spencer Huff, 18, of 132 Roberts Run Road, was charged in three separate cases with theft, receiving stolen property and loitering at night for allegedly breaking into multiple vehicles in the Carmichaels area June 21.

Cumberland Township police Sgt. Bryan Smith said the three cases are related, but involve three different victims. He said the department is in possession of several stolen items, and if they find the owners, more charges could be filed against Huff.

“We’re not sure on how many victims there were,” Smith said. “We still have one iPhone, a camouflage wedding band and other brand touchscreen phones that we’re trying to find the owners for.”

In one of the three cases, Huff was also charged with two counts of corruption of minors and one count of conspiracy, because he and two juveniles allegedly stole $800 in cash, a checkbook and other items from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Olympic Street, police said. Smith said charges will be filed against the two minors in juvenile court.

Investigators believe there could be more thefts than just the three cases. Police said other thefts occurred on Brownsferry Road, Old Waynesburg Road, Maple Street and in Cumberland Village. Anyone who can confirm the stolen items belong to them is asked to call the police station at 724-966-8296.

Huff posted a $2,500 bail and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today before District Judge Lee Watson.
