Driver charged: Maureen Jamerson, 27, of Belle Vernon, was charged Tuesday by California police stemming from a single-vehicle crash May 27 on California Drive. Police said her vehicle went off the road and into Corby Run Creek. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital, where blood was drawn. Jamerson was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and failure to drive at a safe speed. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.

Assault charge: Corey Lamont Anderson, 35, of 503 Bluff St., Canonsburg, was charged Friday by Canonsburg police with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly punched Jamie Roux in the face and choked her during a June 19 confrontation at their home. Police said he reportedly became angry after reading text messages on her cellphone. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Theft charge: David W. Maga, 51, of 208 W. College St., Canonsburg, was charged Monday with theft by Canonsburg police. He is accused of stealing a mountain bicycle owned by Ashley Patat from McDonald’s, Bobby Vinton Boulevard, May 2. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Paraphernalia charge: Krista Nelson, 23, of 102 Boyle Ave., Canonsburg, was charged Tuesday by Canonsburg police with possession of paraphernalia after officers said they found drug-related items when they were called to her home June 2. The charge were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Safe stolen: Michael Salansky of 211 Joseph Drive told Canonsburg police Monday a safe containing credit cards, personal papers and savings bonds was stolen from his home.

Gun charge: Hector Francisco Lopez-Avila, 32, of Melrose, N.M., was arrested Monday night by Cecil police after he was found with a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Southpointe Boulevard at Consol Energy Drive. Police said he did not have a valid permit to carry the weapon in Pennsylvania although he had a permit for New Mexico. There is no agreement between the two states that would make the New Mexico permit valid. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of carrying a firearm without a license and making an improper turn. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Stolen car found: A Cadillac reported stolen to state police was found crashed Saturday off Hickory Ridge Road at Ullom Road, Chartiers police said. The car is owned by Samuel Mancini II, 93 Browntown Road, Avella.

PFA violation: Frank F. Bongiorni, 66, of 2 Baird St., Burgettstown, was arrested Monday night by state police for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order after he reportedly told his brother the previous day he was going to shoot his estranged wife. He was arraigned on the violation before District Judge Gary Havelka and released from Washington County jail after posting $1,500 bond. He also was ordered not to have any contact with his estranged wife, Freda Bongiorni.

Cashier assaulted: A 38-year-old Washington woman told Washington police Monday she was assaulted while working as a cashier at the drive-through window at Burger King, 775 Jefferson Ave. Her alleged attacker told police that she moved aggressively toward him. Charges are pending after surveillance video is reviewed, police said.
