Elderly man injured in golf cart accident

An elderly man was injured Wednesday afternoon when a golf cart he was driving fell 30 feet over an embankment on West Pike Street in Houston.

According to a 911 dispatcher, the 87-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Allegheny Health Network Canonsburg General Hospital, where he was flown by emergency helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital following the 5:20 p.m. accident.

The dispatcher said the man was driving the golf cart on his property.

Houston police and firefighters from Houston Volunteer Fire Department were assisted by Chartiers Township firefighters.
