BELLE VERNON – An Allegheny County woman is accused of slashing her girlfriend with a knife and clawing at her face as the two allegedly were assaulting each other Monday in Rostraver Apartments.

Loretta Tina Simms, 40, of Whitaker, is accused of grabbing a knife and slashing Christian L. McCutcheon during a disturbance about 11:30 p.m. at McCutcheon’s apartment at 124 Mathews Road, court records show.

McCutcheon is accused of striking Simms several times in the face and slamming her against a wall during the fight that took place on McCutcheon’s 28th birthday, Rostraver Township police stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges against her.

McCutcheon suffered several cuts to her left arm, the left side of her face and her right middle finger before police arrived.

McCutcheon also told police she didn’t know what happened other than she was defending herself against Simms.

A neighbor told police she broke up the fight after being disturbed by the sounds that were coming from McCutcheon’s apartment.

Simms allegedly fled after the fight, only to be apprehended by Whitaker police and delivered to the Rostraver police station. Simms claimed McCutcheon was the aggressor and she was defending herself.

Simms is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.

McCutcheon is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Dalfonso released her on $5,000 unsecured bond.
