Area man accused of threatening gas workers
A Robinson Township man was arrested Friday on a warrant obtained by McDonald police after he allegedly threatened to shoot gas well workers.
Gary David Schwab, 55, of 408 Midway-Candor Road, Bulger, is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Police initially were called Dec. 16 for a report by an employee of MarkWest Liberty Gas that Schwab was harassing workers at a site at 438 Midway-Candor.
An employee told police he heard Schwab say something to the effect he planned to return with his shotgun and use it on the workers. Schwab reportedly was upset because he believed gas well employees were moving too much of his dirt in excavating the property. Police told Schwab if he had issues to contact the land agent and leave employees alone.
Police were called again Wednesday to the property. A gas company employee told police Schwab was at the site three times yelling at them. Schwab reportedly told police he was going to continue to harass the employees until they stopped messing with his dirt. He also allegedly told the officer the land was his property and he was going to fight for it like he would fight for his children.
Schwab was taken to Washington County jail, where he was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and released on his own recognizance.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 31 before District Judge Traci McDonald.
