Donegal police charge two in same car with DUI
Two West Virginia residents face several charges including driving under the influence of alcohol after police say their vehicle almost struck a Donegal Township cruiser on Route 40 near Lake Road in April.
Jaleesa M. Mills, 25, of Valley Grove, and Garrett A. Keirs, 24, of Triadelphia, also face charges of obstructing the administration of law enforcement, possession of paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol. Keirs, who police say was initially behind the wheel, also faces several traffic violations.
Police said they stopped the vehicle after it almost hit the cruiser April 9. As police approached, the officers said they saw what appeared to be the two climbing over the center console. Mills, who reportedly had been the passenger, took control of the vehicle, police said.
Inside the vehicle, police said they found two open bottles of beer and two open bottles of malt liquor. Police said Keirs’ blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent legal limit. Mills’ BAC also was over the limit.
Charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward. The two are scheduled for June 21 preliminary hearings before Ward.
