Waynesburg senior wins annual scholarship
Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund Committee awarded its 26th annual scholarship to Lindsey Gilbert of Waynesburg.
Lindsey, a graduating senior at Waynesburg Central High School, is also currently enrolled in classes at California University of Pennsylvania.
Lindsey, 17, a daughter of James and Heather Gilbert of Waynesburg, plans to pursue a degree in sociology of deviance at Cal U.
This scholarship is presented each year to a Greene County senior who plans to attend a college, university or trade school. The scholarship is awarded based on grade point average and a 500-word essay.
Gilbert will be presented with the scholarship at the May General Membership Networking Luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce set for May 25 at Waynesburg University’s Benedum Dining Hall.
In addition to the scholarship, Gilbert will also receive a laptop courtesy of John Frownfelter, owner of PCsquared, and a custom backpack from Greene County United Way.
The chamber received 33 applications for the scholarship this year.
