WAYNESBURG – A Franklin Township man pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing a utility trailer and pipe fusing machine, valued at $47,000, from a natural gas well site in Greene Township in March 2015.

Levon Reggetz, 40, of 106 Coal Lick Lane, was charged by state police in April 2015, with two counts of theft and one count of criminal conspiracy. He pleaded guilty to all three felonies before Greene County Judge Lou Dayich.

According to court documents, Reggetz and Michael Phillips, 26, of 1530 Morris St., Waynesburg, stole the equipment belonging to West Penn Energy Service LLC and tried to sell it. Phillips didn’t realize that his interested buyer was an undercover trooper.

Phillips told troopers to meet him in the parking lot behind the New Freeport post office, where police found the utility trailer and the pipe fusing machine.

Phillips was arrested and pleaded guilty last July. A few months later, he was sentenced by President Judge Farley Toothman to 1 to 5 years in state prison, although he was eligible for release after nine months with good behavior. He was released April 17.

As part of his plea agreement, Phillips was ordered to testify against Reggetz.

Reggetz is being held at Greene County jail on $25,000 bond awaiting his sentencing. Dayich ordered him to pay $3,700 in restitution.
