City man charged with attempted homicide, other offenses
Monessen police have issued a warrant for a city man accused in connection with an incident in which shots were allegedly fired at a vehicle occupied by three people.
Police charged D’El Mackey, 34, of Elm Street Friday with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and harassment in and incident early last week.
Monessen police Officer Brian Mickens wrote in a cirminal complaint that dispatchers received a call at 8:30 p.m. May 2 from someone who said shots were being fired at the vehicle while Mackey pursued the vehicle.
The caller said one bullet struck the rear window frame on the driver’s side, according to police.
Mickens said the victims went to the Monessen police station for refuge and gave statements to officers. They said they had encountered Mackey earlier that night and he threatened them that “he was going to get his guns and (expletive) them (the victims) up,” according to Mickens.
“Shortly after this outburst, the victims were followed and shot at,” he wrote.
Mickens also said a video camera on the corner of Reed Avenue and Sixth Street corroborated some of the victims’ accounts. Tape shows a gray Pontiac Vibe, which Mackey has been known to drive, chasing the “victims down 6th street almost running into their vehicle.”
Court records indicate Mackey hadn’t been arrested as of Monday evening.
