Police beat May 11
Theft charge: Susan M. McMasters, 26, of 918½ Addison St., Washington, was charged Monday by Canonsburg police with felony retail theft after she allegedly stole items from Dollar General, 145 Adams Ave., on April 15.
Wall damaged: Monica Phillips, 524 Tannehill St., told Canonsburg police Monday the retaining wall at her home was damaged.
Outstanding warrant: Michael Anthony Smith, 30, of 617 Crest Ave., Charleroi, was taken into custody Saturday by Charleroi Regional police on a bench warrant. When police knocked on the door, he ran up the stairs but was apprehended. He was placed in Washington County jail.
Warrant arrest: Austin Boyd, 19, who Charleroi Regional police said has no known address, was taken into custody Sunday at 410 Fifth St., on an outstanding bench warrant after he failed to return to Washington County jail.
DUI charge: Mindy Lee Hughes, 56, of 519 Welsh Road, Chartiers, was charged Monday by Chartiers police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving. Police said she reportedly forced several vehicles off the road April 7 as she drove on Hickory Ridge Road. Another motorist ran up to her vehicle and took the keys out of the ignition when she stopped near the intersection of McCarrell Road. Police said she was under the influence of hydrocodone and other drugs.
Simple assault: Monessen police charged Daniel J. Simmons, 21, of 320 Cook St., Fayette City, with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Police filed charges Saturday in connection with an incident the day before in which Simmons allegedly puched through the rear door of a house on South 14th Street during an argument with his sister.
Resisting arrest: Melissa Clipp, 29, of 303 Courtney Hill Road, Finleyville, was charged by Charleroi Regional police with resisting arrest, possession of paraphernalia and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident Saturday at Cougar Mini Mart, North Charleroi. Police found her passed out in a pickup truck in the lot. Police said she became belligerent and fought with officers when told she was under arrest after they spotted a suspected crack pipe on the floor of the truck.
Three charged: Jeffrey E. Allison, 19, 340 Wilbert Ave., Washington; William Robert Kelley, 19, of 1621 Ridgewod Drive, North Franklin, and Joseph J. Mann, 26, of 1290 Wilna St., Washington, were each charged by North Franklin police Monday with disorderly conduct after officers were called to Kelley’s home after a neighbor complained he could smell marijuana. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Theft charge: David Lee Smith, 30, of 1160 Murray Ave., Hostetter, was charged Monday by Rostraver Township police with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly taking a pot-belly stove from a home 528 Webster Hollow Road on Jan. 18. The charge will proceed by summons from the officer of District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
Paraphernalia charge: Gino Edward Norelli, 18, of 202 Owls Nest Lane, Belle Vernon, faces a possession of drug paraphernalia charge after he was found inside a parked vehicle early Monday, Rostraver police said. The charge will proceed by summons from the officer of District Judge Charles Christner.
Threats charge: Damien Jackson, 23, of Pittsburgh, was charged Monday by Washington police with terroristic threats and harassment after he allegedly threatened to shoot a Washington woman as well as police April 26 at the intersection of Maple and Michigan avenues. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Attempted robbery: Washington police are viewing surveillance footage to determine the identity of a man who demanded money from employees of Dairy Queen, 99 E. Wylie Ave., before fleeing on foot Monday. According to the report, the man, described as black and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark glasses, circled Washington Financial Bank, 98 E. Wylie Ave., several times before entering. He was stopped by a second set of doors and employees asked for his identification. The man said he had none, then left and walked across the street to Dairy Queen, where he demanded $300 and said he would jump over the counter. Employees prevented the man from getting behind the counter. He fled without obtaining money.
Gun stolen: Karen Metz of Metz Vapes, 174 N. Main St., reported Monday a black Smith & Wesson firearm valued at $700 was taken from the store. She told police there were no signs of forced entry.
Retail theft: Employees of Family Dollar, 130 Highland Ave., reported to police Monday a black man with few or no teeth, wearing a white tank top and tan pants, took two bottles of vitamins from the shelf and placed them in a black and blue bookbag. He left the store without paying.
