Union Township supervisors on Monday approved a conditional use permit application submitted by EQM Gathering to build a compressor station and dehydration facility off Finleyville-Elrama Road.

The supervisors voted 3-0 to approve the permit, pending the company’s compliance with the board’s “findings of facts” document, which lays out several conditions for development of the nearly 87-acre site.

Voting in favor of the permit were Larry Spahr, Deborah Sargent and Paul Chasko. Charles Trax and Heather Daerr abstained.

“Insofar as the conditional use permit and the terms, there was a lot of time spent writing those and considering what those should be,” said Spahr, noting supervisors established more than 40 items for the conditional use permit, including conditions aimed at assuaging concerns of residents who live near the compressor station.

The McIntosh Compressor Station and Dehydration Facility will be built on property adjacent to the Hartson compressor station.

Construction on the McIntosh station and dehydration facility, which will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a week, is slated to begin in March and be completed in October 2018.
