A Brownsville man is in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond after he allegedly struck a Washington man with a gun and pointed the weapon at a second city man late Tuesday in the 500 block of Fayette Street.

Jamar Jones, 22, of 71 South Hills Terrace, is accused of striking Isiah Wallace, 19, in the face and putting the gun to the chest of 20-year-old Alonzo Tinsley.

Police were called about 11 p.m. to the 500 block of Fayette Street. When they arrived, they found Wallace bleeding from the mouth. He told them Jones pointed a gun at him, robbed him of $600 and hit him across the face with the weapon. Tinsley told police Jones put the gun to his chest.

They told police Jones ran east on Catfish Alley and likely went to 140 Grove St.

Police went to the house and spoke to a resident. She told police she did not know all of the people who were in her home, but she gave officers permission to search the residence for Jones. Police began ordering everyone out of the home. Several people left, but Jones was not one of them.

Police said Jones was then spotted through a window in a second-floor bedroom. He allegedly ignored police orders and refused to come out of the house. The Washington Regional SWAT Team was called after Jones barricaded himself in the house and refused to come out. After a short standoff, Jones gave up.

While at the station for questioning, Jones reportedly told police that he hid the gun in a toilet tank in a first-floor bathroom.

Police said they recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun from the tank.

Jones was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Traci McDonald on two counts each of robbery and aggravated assault and one count of persons not to possess firearms. He faces a May 25 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
