State police filed additional charges against a Cumberland Township man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend and ransacking her Carmichaels home in January.

Michael Shawn Oshetsky was charged Wednesday with four counts of reckless endangerment and one charge of criminal mischief in the Jan. 24 incident in which state police said he entered the home in the 200 block of North Vine Street.

Police said Oshetsky, 39, of 628 Nemacolin Road, destroyed more than $1,300 worth of electronics, small appliances and personal items in the home, prompting his ex-girlfriend, Anita Danko, her female friend and two children to leave and hide in a snow-covered car, Trooper Michael Hertig said.

“It was a miserable night there,” Hertig said. “They were hiding in the car but he left before we arrived.”

Hertig said troopers searched the area, but could not find Oshetsky.

However, Oshetsky returned later and asked Danko if he could stay at the house. She refused, but he somehow snuck in and hid in her basement, sleeping there for more than six hours before waking hours later and attacking her, police said. He also threatened to kill her before leaving with her cellphone and electronic tablet, police said.

Danko’s lip, nose and forehead were swollen from the attack, according to court documents.

Police filed charges of terroristic threats, theft, trespassing, simple assault and harassment against Oshetsky following that incident, although he wasn’t arrested until a few days later. He was scheduled for plea court Tuesday, although it was not known what the outcome of that case was, and his attorney, Josh Camson, could not be reached for comment Thursday.

State police also cited Oshetsky for criminal mischief and harassment for a Nov. 3 incident in which troopers said he intentionally broke a window pane of a door at the home and threw items around inside the residence.
