The robbery Sunday of a convenience store on East Maiden Street in Washington was the third time it has been held up in 10 months.

The clerk at Kwik Fill, 705 E. Maiden, told Washington police that she first saw the robber as he walked east in front of the parking lot just after 6 p.m. and turned toward the store. As he entered the store, she saw half of his face was covered with a black mask or shirt.

He told her, “Give me all your money. I have kids to feed. I have a gun.” The cashier emptied the register, and the robber fled.

Police checked the surveillance and determined the robber kept his right hand in the pocket of his jacket, pointing something toward the clerk. He grabbed the money with his left hand and ran on foot across the street toward Rosewood Avenue.

The robber is white and wore blue jeans with checkered boxer shorts and a black or dark hooded jacket with an emblem on the front, upper left.

Investigators are not certain if the robbery has any connection with Thursday’s robbery of Bob Evans on West Chestnut Street in North Franklin Township.

The store was first held up July 14 by a white man who covered his face with the hood of his oversized jacket. He also fled on foot toward Rosewood and Springfield avenues. He did not appear to have a weapon.

Two weeks later, it was robbed by a woman wearing a black hooded shirt, white bandana and sunglasses. The robber held her hands in her shirt, acting as though she might have a weapon, but no gun was seen. She also fled from the store, running toward Rosewood.

An attempt was made to rob the store in November, but the clerk refused to give that man any money.

Anyone with information on Sunday’s robbery is asked to call city police at 724-223-5226 or 911.
