Traffic restrictions for Pike Street project
As the project to improve the intersection of Country Club Road and Pike Street in Chartiers Township continues, the following traffic patterns will occur for about 12 weeks, starting May 23:
• Traffic will be able to travel only southbound on Pike Street from the intersection of First Street and Pike Street, all the way to Interstate 79.
• Country Club Road will still have access for traffic in both directions.
• For the marked detour for northbound Pike Street, off Exit 40 (Meadowlands) of Interstate 79, motorists will be directed to I-79 Exit 41 (Race Track Road) back to Pike Street. Pike Street will be open up to the “road closed” signs.
• I-79 Exit 40 will not be closed. Traffic will still be able to enter and exit on Exit 40. It will be able to access Locust Avenue, Manifold Road and also turn northbound on Pike Street for a short distance until the road is closed.
The project involves the widening of Pike Street and Country Club Road to both provide turning lanes and improve the turning radius for trucks. The project will also replace both the existing traffic signal and the at-grade railroad crossing. The contractor on this $2.1 million job is Frank Gavlik & Sons Inc. The project will be completed in September.
