Driver injured in crash near Avella

A 25-year-old woman was injured Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident in the 800 block of Route 844 near Breezy Heights Tavern.
The woman was driving east at the time of the crash and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. She suffered head and chest trauma from the accident as the Buick sedan she was driving careened into a grassy area and collided with a tree, state police said.
The driver’s name was not immediately released. She was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
