PITTSBURGH (AP) – A man charged with selling heroin that led to a deadly overdose in March faces a detention hearing before a federal judge in Pittsburgh.

For now, 27-year-old Justin Kromer, of Indiana, Pa., is charged with selling drugs to a man who overdosed on March 30.

But authorities have said in court papers they believe he’s connected to a second death March 31, and they’re hoping the judge will order him jailed until he can stand trial in the first death.

Authorities say Kromer acknowledged selling heroin to both of the people who died.

His federal public defender has a blanket policy of not commenting to the media.

The hearing is Thursday morning at the federal courthouse downtown.
