Greene County Country Club grounds crew took advantage of sunny weather Thursday morning to perform routine maintenance on the golf course in Morgan Township after rainy weather inundated the area during the first three weeks of May. Groundskeepers Gary Shaffer, top, mowed the greens while Mike Vukmanic Jr., right, painted the holes. Vukmanic’s father, Mike Vukmanic Sr., the greens superintendent who has worked at the country club for 41 years, said the wet weather made it difficult to fertilize and perform other maintenance, but that hasn’t deterred golfers from playing. “Our play has been steady, when it’s not raining,” he said.
