North Franklin Twp. woman waives hearing on theft charges
A North Franklin Township woman, already facing of charges of stealing from her former employer, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday on allegations she forged her boss’ signature on paperwork she submitted to the state Department of Revenue last year.
Carrie Ann Ammons-Daviduk, 40, of 1285 Overlook Drive, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Mark on charges of attempted theft by deception, willfully filing false and fraudulent tax documents, tampering with public records and forgery.
Ammons-Daviduk is awaiting a trial scheduled to start June 13 before Judge John F. DiSalle on more than 100 counts of theft, theft by deception, tampering with records, unlawful use of a computer, forgery and failure to make required disposition of funds. She is accused of stealing $209,471 from Valley Bulk, 919 Western Ave., while working as a controller for the company. She originally was scheduled to enter a plea but opted for a trial.
John Washabaugh, owner of Valley Bulk, told Chartiers Township police Sgt. Michael Filosi and the Department of Revenue Ammons-Daviduk claimed to be an independent contractor as part of the original theft scheme, As an independent contractor, she would have received a 1099 form and would have been subject to self-employment tax.
The sergeant said she did not pay taxes on the money she allegedly took from the company and, when contacted by the state, sent a letter on Valley Bulk letterhead with Washabaugh’s forged signature indicating he had taken care of paying the tax.
Ammons-Daviduk remains free on $100,000 bond set by Mark during her arraignment on the most recent charges. She is scheduled for formal arraignment July 28.
