Police beat May 29
Equipment stolen: Welding equipment owned by White Line Construction of Smock was reported stolen Wednesday from a construction site on South Sunset Beach Road at the Interstate 70 overpass, Buffalo, state police said.
Drug arrest: David L. Carden, 29, of 504 Manor Gate, West Newton, was taken into custody Friday on a warrant obtained by the Washington County Drug Task Force on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of paraphernalia and criminal use of a communications facility. He is accused of selling the drug to a confidential informant in December and January. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $250,000 bond. Carden had been out on $100,000 bond stemming from an arrest earlier this year.
Theft arrest: Daniel J. Hamay, 21, who Carroll police said is homeless, was arrested early Saturday by township police on charges of theft from a vehicle, resisting arrest and loitering and prowling at night after a resident of Hillcrest Manor spotted him inside parked vehicles. He was spotted by police walking on Carden Road. Hamay ran but was caught by police. He was found with loose change reportedly taken from the vehicles in his pockets. Hamay was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $7,500 bond.
Disturbance reported: A 6-year-old Midway boy was hit with a plastic baseball bat by one of a group of boys at the East End ballfield, Meadow Street, Wednesday night, McDonald police said. He was reportedly hit after he and another boy got into a scuffle on the swing set. The Midway boy’s mother called police.
Bicyclist hurt: William Hirtz, 68, of 322 Kay St., McDonald, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment after he apparently fell off his bicycle while riding it while intoxicated on Arabella Street last weekend, McDonald police said. He will be cited with public drunkenness.
Assault arrest: Jean A. McLaughlin, 44, of 1946 Park Ave., South Franklin, was arrested Thursday by state police on charges of simple assault and harassment. She is accused of grabbing her mother, Linda McLaughlin, and striking her in the face. She was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
Drug arrest: Shaun Amman, 34, who has no known address, was arrested Thursday on a warrant obtained by South Strabane police on charges of procurement of drugs by fraud and possession of paraphernalia after narcotics and needles were found in his room after he left Motel 6, Motel 6 Drive, on May 21. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on a $10,000 percentage bond.
