Police Beat June 1
Welder stolen: Robert P. Frye of 57 Main St., Blaine, told state police a thief entered a detached garage Saturday by forcing open a side door and stole a welder.
Theft arrest: Maurice Parker, 39, of Suitland, Md., was arrested Monday by state police on charges of theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license after he allegedly took a pickup truck owned by Brian K. Durbin, 849 Henderson Ave., Canton, without permission. Police said Parker was staying with Durbin. Parker was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Two hurt: Two people were slightly injured in a crash May 23 at 911 Old National Pike, state police said. Vehicles driven by Mary L. Mattish, 69, of Clarksville and James W. Brown, 69, of Brownsville collided. Mattish and a passenger in Brown’s vehicle, Nancy Brown, 67, of Brownsville, suffered minor injuires. Mattish was cited for failing to drive on the right side of the road, police said.
Traffic stop charges: Sean Perry, 25, of 108 Pennsylvania Ave., Speers, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with illegal possession of brass knuckles and possession of heroin paraphernalia stemming from a traffic stop about 2:15 p.m. May 26 in the 300 block of McKean Avenue, court records show. A passenger in Perry’s vehicle, William A. Richards, 29, of 1215 McKean Ave., Charleroi, also faces a charge of possession of heroin paraphernalia. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charges via summons Tuesday.
Assault alleged: Brian K. Holp, 30, of 212 Third St., Vestaburg, is charged by state police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he struck Jesse C. Bennati in the head and pushed Kalee Bennati about 11 p.m. May 14 during a birthday party at 933 Bentleyville Road, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charges in a summons Tuesday.
Three charged: Christopher Scott Kreischer, 29, of Canonsburg; James Brock, 29, of Regent Street, Houston; and Angelo Jordan, 44, of McKees Rocks, were arrested Monday by Houston police after they allegedly were found squatting in a home at 112 E. Pike St. Police said the lower door panel on the front door was kicked out. All three were arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. They were placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 percentage bonds. Ward ordered them not to return to the property.
Assault charge: John W. Runyon, 19, of 15 Wylie Ave., Avella, was charged Tuesday by state police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting his father, Lonnie Runyon, 42, at their Independence home on Monday. The two reportedly got into an argument when the son threw a glass that broke and cut his father’s arm. Lonnie Runyon was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Harassment alleged: Justin P. Smith, 30, of 523 Donner Ave., Monessen, is charged by city police with harassment and stalking in cases that involve separate allegations, court records show. Police accuse Smith of calling his ex-girlfriend, Brianna Stringa, 137 times within a 12-hour period on May 6 and following her around her residence in the 500 block of Page Street. He also is accused of sending his aunt, Tina Smith, harassing text messages May 26. District Judge Joseph Dalfonso issued a warrant Friday for Smith’s arrest.
Burglary case: Christopher J. Scagline, 26, of 1050 Fells Church Road, Rostraver Township, is charged by city police with burglary and theft, court records show. Police accused Scagline of breaking a window at 464 Reed Ave. about 8:15 p.m. July 22 to steal a television valued at $1,433 from Timothy Pace. Police filed the charges Tuesday before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
Garage entered: John S. Buchanan of 712 Plumsock Road, Morris, told state police Friday his garage was entered. A tractor battery and four all-terrain vehicle wheels were stolen. Batteries were stolen from two tractors parked outside the garage.
Assault arrest: Brittany Rachelle Chirumbolo, 26, of 246 Fieldbrook Drive, was arrested Thursday by North Strabane police after she allegedly assaulted her mother and sister during a confrontation at their home. Lindsey Lavorgna told police her sister threw a television remote at her. Beth Jones told police her daughter punched her in the face twice and shoved her. Chirumbolo was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on two counts of harassment and one count of simple assault. She was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Criminal mischief: A homeowner in the 200 block of Rosewood Court told police Monday someone damaged piping leading to his swimming pool’s water heater and pump.
iPad stolen: A resident of the 100 block of Galley Road in McMurray said his son left his iPad at Pizazz Pizza on Washington Road Sunday. When they realized it was missing and returned to collect it, the iPad, valued at $700, was gone.
Cash, coins stolen: Police are investigating the theft of $1,700 in cash and coins from a locked box at Deka Lash, 3075 Washington Road. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
Ballfield burglary: Washington police took a report Monday at the Washington Park Pinto field concession stand after someone forced open the door and stole an unknown amount of cash and boxes of candy. The burglary took place Sunday night or Monday morning.
