MT. PLEASANT – A 76-year-old Pennsylvania woman is recovering after she was run over by her own car in a McDonald’s drive-thru.

State police said Janet Pfeifer dropped her bag of food as a worker handed it to her, so she opened her car door and leaned out to pick it up. But in doing so, she fell out of the car, which rolled forward and hit a block wall, then rolled backward over her.

This all happened Saturday at the McDonald’s in Mt. Laurel Plaza in Unity Township. That’s in Westmoreland County, about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport nearby, then flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

The Mt. Pleasant woman was listed in serious condition Tuesday morning.
