Waynesburg Lions Club names students of the month
Adrian Barnhart, daughter of Robert and Jillian Barnhart of Waynesburg, was named Girl of the Month by the Waynesburg Lions Club, and Jeromy Mackey, son of Brad and Kelly Mackey of Waynesburg, was named Boy of the Month.
The two were selected by the faculty at Waynesburg Central High School.
Barnhart has a 4.0 grade-point average and is a member of the marching and concert bands, reading team, library club, brass ensemble and National Honor Society, and she dances at It’s Time to Dance with Kel and Company, where she’s also a teacher’s helper in tap and ballet. Barnhart has received an academic excellence award for maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average every year of high school, a perfect attendance award, first place with the auxiliary unit at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival and first place with the high school team at Greene County reading competition. Over the summer, she was a day camp and science camp counselor.
Mackey has a 4.0 grade-point average and is a member of the academic league, drama club, debate team and manager for the boys soccer team. Mackey has captained the undefeated academic league team to section title wins, and is a two-year member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association District 1 choir. He is president of the Class of 2017, the choral union, the Future is Mine and the National Honor Society. Mackey is a tutor at Bowlby Library and was a day camp counselor for Greene County for two years. He plans to major in theater and English at California University of Pennsylvania.
