A Cumberland Township man is accused of meeting a 15-year-old Plum Borough girl through a cellphone messaging app before engaging in a sexual relationship with her at his home in Greene County.
Charles Curtis Kerr II, 36, of 460 Stringtown Road, Carmichaels, was arrested last month and faces felony charges after Allegheny County police detectives said he met the girl using the messaging app Kik in February under the alias of “Chuckie” and later drove to Plum to meet her.
While driving back, Kerr allegedly told the girl “not to worry (because) he picks up young girls like this all the time,” according to court documents. Police said they stopped at a store and restaurant in Washington before continuing to Greene County.
Police said Kerr engaged in sex with the teen at his home Feb. 20. Kerr knew the girl was 15, according to court documents, but he allegedly said he “did not care about her age.”
Plum police were notified of the situation the following day after the girl was brought home and asked Allegheny County police to assist in the investigation, police said. Waynesburg police arrested Kerr while he was in the borough Oct. 26 and transported him to Allegheny County to face charges.
Allegheny County police charged Kerr with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sex assault, interference with custody of a child, corruption of minors, criminal use of a communications device and indecent assault.
He was arraigned by District Judge Linda Zucco and is free on $50,000 bond, according to court documents. He faces a Nov. 16 preliminary hearing with the district judge in Plum.
