A Carmichaels woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Route 21.

State police said Heather Renee Whyel, 25, died after being ejected from her car when it collided with a pickup truck about 10:35 p.m.

The other driver, Thomas I. Bennett, 59, of Lemont Furnace suffered minor injuries, and he was treated at WHS-Greene hospital, police said.

Police said Whyel was traveling west near Gwynn Road in Jefferson Township when her car drifted off of the road before it made a sharp left turn into the westbound lane, where it was struck on the passenger side by the truck. Bennett was driving east when Gwynn’s car traveled into his lane of travel, police said.

Whyel was pronounced dead by Mary Lewis, Greene County’s chief deputy coroner, police said.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation Saturday, police said.

The family of Whyel has set up a crowdsourcing page to raise money to cover her funeral expenses. It can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/heather-whyel-funeral-expenses.
