Blaze damages New Eagle home
Firefighters from New Eagle and neighboring departments were called Sunday night to a fire on Fourth Avenue in New Eagle. The fire heavily damaged the home at 426 Fourth Ave., New Eagle fire Chief Paul Pro said no one was injured in the blaze that broke out at 11:45 p.m. at the one-story frame home owned by Chris O’Brien. The occupant was home when the fire began and called 911 as she was evacuating.
State police fire marshal Douglas Rush was on the scene Monday to investigate. He said the fire began in the basement but he was unable to determine the origin. Flames burned through the floor and roof on the back side of the home.
