Latest audit: Penn State paid $93M to 33 Sandusky victims

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) — Penn State’s latest audited financial statements who the school has settled with one more victim or accuser of Jerry Sandusky during the fiscal year that ended June 30, bringing the payout total to $93 million to 33 people.

WJAC-TV also reports the audited financial statements show the school has paid nearly $20 million in legal fees and relating to internal investigations in the past two years and the university’s insurers have paid $29.9 million relating to the scandal. The figures reported Wednesday don’t include a recent $2.4 million fine by the U.S. Department of Education for allegedly failing to properly handle allegations of sex abuse against the former assistant football coach.

Sandusky is appealing while serving 30 to 60 years in prison on a 45-count child sexual abuse conviction.
