Leathernecks plan toy drive
The Tri-County Leathernecks are announcing the date for the 2016 Toys for Tots distribution event in Greene County.
This will be the 34th year for the program, according to Buzz Walters, commandant of the Leathernecks.
The event was started by an elimination dinner sponsored by the men and women of the Moose Lodge, and the proceeds were used for donated toys.
The Moose team donates its own time and money for the program, and Walters said the Leathernecks could not do it without their support and the support of Greene County.
“They have been great each year,” Walters said.
Donation boxes have been distributed throughout the Waynesburg area and Greene County.
Toys will be distributed to parents of children, from infants to 12 years old, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Parents must bring social security information of the children and proof of income.
The following locations will distribute the toys: the Greene County Fairgrounds in Franklin Township, the American Legion in Carmichaels, St. Thomas Church in Clarksville, and the Bobtown Fire Department in Bobtown.
