MCKEESPORT (AP) – Police have arrested a 24-year-old in connection with the discovery of a badly decomposed body at an abandoned house just outside of Pittsburgh.

Twenty-four-year-old Shawn Thomas Jr. was charged Tuesday with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and access device fraud in the death of Jerry Kunes.

Police say Thomas suffocated Kunes with a plastic bag after the victim made an unwanted sexual advance on him. Thomas reportedly told officers that he was friends with Kunes, who would sell him drugs.

After the murder, Thomas allegedly wrapped Kunes’ body in blankets and transported his corpse in a shopping cart to an abandoned home in McKeesport.

Police say Thomas also admitted to using Kunes’ personal information to withdraw funds from his bank account.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
