Did you have a busy post-Thanksgiving weekend and couldn’t catch up on local news? We have you covered in the O-R’s Weekend Recap! Learn five things you need to know for Monday.

A man was shot and killed inside a Cecil Township home Friday night.

A woman called 911 shortly after 6 p.m. to report the homeowner told her he shot an intruder in his home at 128 Adams St., McDonald.

Cecil Township police Chief Shawn Bukovinsky said the deceased man, who was later identified as Nathaniel Kevin Gardner, 52, of Washington, was apparently accompanied by two people when he came to the house, allegedly to buy marijuana, according to Cecil Township police Chief Shawn Bukovinsky. Gardner was apparently acquainted with the homeowner and had previously had an altercation with him, Bukovinsky said.

A man who overdosed at the Washington County booking center Monday and was revived by deputies has died after overdosing again. He succumbed Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, said Washington County Commissioner Larry Maggi, who was notified by Sheriff Samuel Romano. The commissioner said he was not told the identity of the victim, who had arrived at the booking center to be fingerprinted Monday as a requirement of his probation.

When Avella Volunteer Fire Department Chief Eric Temple arrived at Cross Creek County Park on Thanksgiving, one of the pavilions was ablaze “from end to end.” By the time rescue trucks arrived, everything – including every picnic table, the shingled roof and attached solar panels – was engulfed.

Washington County Commission Chairman Larry Maggi, a former state trooper who was a state police assistant fire marshal for a short time, said the fire is being investigated by proper authorities, as all structure fires are to be referred to a fire marshal.

Quality is often far more important that quantity. That was the case for the Steelers last Thursday night in their 28-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Tight end Ladarius Green had two receptions for 67 yards and Eli Rogers had a 30-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter. They were just three catches, but to the Steelers they might have been three of the most important catches of the season.

Two teenagers were seriously injured Thursday night in a head-on crash on Route 21 in Jefferson Township, Greene County. State police said a car driven by 16-year-old Shay Siebert of Nemacolin was traveling west near Gwynn Road at 11:18 p.m. when she tried to pass a vehicle in front of her in no-passing zone. Her car hit a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on.
