The Washington County Family Court Center was evacuated briefly Tuesday morning because of a bomb threat made by an unknown caller.

A person with a man’s voice called the county adult probation office in the center, 29 W. Cherry Ave., about 9:45 a.m. and said there was a bomb in the men’s bathroom, according to Jon Ridge, chief of adult probation.

“Everything was searched thoroughly and we did an evacuation,” Ridge said.

The evacuation of the center, lasted 15 or 20 minutes, he said. The county sheriff’s K9 unit swept the building.

Ridge said officials haven’t identified the caller.

“We’re planning on turning over any information we have to the Washington County sheriff’s office,” he said.
