Canonsburg police get warrant in December robbery
Canonsburg police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a second suspect in December’s robbery of an East Pike Street beer distributor.
District Judge David Mark issued the warrant Tuesday for Jeremy Lemoyne Oakes, 36, of Pittsburgh, on charges of robbery and conspiracy for the Dec. 29 robbery of Ross Beverage. His alleged accomplice, Terrale J. Blow, 42, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Jan. 22. Blow is currently housed in Allegheny County Jail. Jury selection is slated to begin later this month for Blow, who faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, theft and reckless endangerment.
Police responded to the beer distributor for a report of an armed robbery in progress. Surveillance video showed the robber came into the store wearing a black knit cap, black coat and black jeans with his coat covering his mouth. When the clerk approached, the robber pulled what appeared to be a gun from the waistband of his pants, shoved it into the clerk’s back and demanded money.
Blow was later identified as the robber and Oakes as the driver. Police received a tip through Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers as to their possible identity after surveillance photographs were shown.
Detective Michael Ledger said that the two had gotten off Interstate 79 at Canonsburg.
“They had nothing planned,” Ledger said Wednesday. “They were just looking around.”
“Oakes is nowhere to be found when we went looking for him to bring him in for questioning,” Ledger added. “Pittsburgh police tried going to his home, but no one lives there anymore.”
Oakes is black with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Ledger at 724-745-8020, ext. 523.
