Police beat Oct. 6
Theft: Two additional theft charges were filed Wednesday by Cumberland Township police against Chip Levone Riley, 28, of 104 Cedarwood Ave., Carmichaels. Riley was charged for allegedly attempting to take items from a vehicle around 4:15 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Market St. in Cumberland Township. Police said the owner of the vehicle, Samuel Hastings, caught Riley inside his car and immediately called the police. According to the criminal complaint, Riley told police he thought it was “his buddy’s car” that he left his cellphone in the night before. Riley is already facing theft and receiving stolen property charges related to other vehicle break-in cases in Cumberland Township between Sunday night and Monday.
Simple assault: Jackie Edward Rutan Jr., 31, of 100 W. High St., Waynesburg, was charged with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching Ryan Tuttle of Waynesburg in the head and face multiple times Sept. 20, borough police said. Tuttle was taken by ambulance to WHS-Greene hospital for his head injuries.
Theft: An unknown actor stole a Stihl chainsaw from an unlocked compartment of an Aarcon Enterprises, Inc. work truck parked in the 300 block of Comfort Lane in Waynesburg between Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.
Theft: State police said someone stole lawn equipment from under the backyard deck of a residence in the 500 block of Petit Road in Washington Township Sept. 17.
