Canton woman faces charges in several theft cases
A Canton Township woman already wanted on warrants obtained by Chartiers Township police for allegedly burglarizing homes last summer was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Mark on those charges as well as charges filed by state police for allegedly using a bank card stolen from a Canton man last month.
Casey Dawn Cole, 24, who has addresses at Bel Air Drive and Grove Avenue, was taken into custody early Saturday by state police and initially arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of burglary, theft, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property filed by Chartiers police, who accused her of breaking into a home on McClane Farm Road Aug. 15. Cole allegedly stole a 36-inch television. She was placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond set by Thompson.
Chartiers police also charged her with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a television set from a house on Lyons Street July 18, and burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief for allegedly trying to break into a house on Ross Street two weeks later.
State police charged her with using a debit card that was stolen last month from a home on Bower Avenue in Canton. She is accused of making 11 transactions totalling $1,015.50 with the debit card at various locations. The alleged victim told state police he believes a woman he allowed to stay at his home while she was on house arrest took the card and gave it to Cole. Police also obtained a warrant for that woman’s arrest.
Cole is charged by state police with theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and conspiracy.
Cole is currently awaiting trial on three counts of burglary and theft for allegedly stealing televisions in July from three homes in Washington. She also was mentioned by police as a suspect in a burglary of a home in the city over the weekend, but was not charged.
Mark set bond on the new charges at $75,000. Cole is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before him Nov. 2.
