A Richeyville man was seriously injured when his motorcycle crashed shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 40 at the intersection of Route 519 in North Bethlehem Township.

State police said that Albert Cursi III, 50, was traveling west on Route 40 when a small gold car pulled out into the path of his motorcycle from Route 519. Cursi lost control and laid down the motorcycle, crashing into a vehicle driven by Stephen Paluda, 59, of Washington, which was stopped on Route 40 east waiting to make a left turn to Route 519.

The small gold car did not stop and fled on Route 40 west. Cursi was taken from the scene by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or knows who the operator of the gold car is to call Trooper Ryan Deems at 724-223-5200.
