PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Public Schools officials say an 11th grader will be charged with possessing 10 stamp bags of heroin to school.

District spokeswoman Ebony Pugh says officials at University Prep confronted the boy because he appeared to be under the influence when he entered school Tuesday morning.

The boy ran away as school staff was walking him to the office and put some of the individual dose bags in his mouth, but a school officer stopped the boy and made him spit out the drug.

Pugh says the boy will be charged with heroin possession in juvenile court. He was released to his parents after he was examined by paramedics.
