JOHNSTOWN (AP) – A Pennsylvania coroner said a dead man’s ex-girlfriend came forward to claim his cremated remains which were left for her by someone, but on the wrong porch.

Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees told WJAC-TV the woman came forward after the station reported the misplaced ashes on Tuesday.

A Johnstown resident on Saturday found a gold-colored box contained the ashes on his porch along with a note addressing two people saying, “Your better half remains.”

Lees said the woman lives two doors away from where the ashes were found, and told him the ashes were misplaced.

Lees plans to return the ashes to the woman next week. The remains are those of a man who died in 2009.

It hasn’t been made clear who left the ashes on the porch.
