A Burgettstown woman was arrested Thursday night by Smith Township police after she allegedly twice left her 3-year-old daughter unattended in a vehicle and also reportedly assaulted three people.

April Renee Jones, 28, 159 Meneely Road, is charged with three counts of simple assault, five counts of disorderly conduct and one count of endangering the welfare of children and simple trespass.

Police were called to Evans Lane for a report of a domestic assault. Adam Miller told police Jones got out of her vehicle, started yelling and hit him in the face. Miller told police he could see his daughter in the vehicle.

Police were called back to 10 Evans Lane for a report of an active attack. Miller told police Jones was “flying down the road and driveway” so he ran to the woods to hide. Jones reportedly started yelling, asking Josh Kennedy where Miller had gone, police said. She reportedly punched Kennedy and Cindy Kennedy, who also was at the residence.

Jones then fled again, police said. Kennedy told police she may be going to Miller’s home in Midway.

While at the Midway residence, police heard a vehicle start and then back out of the driveway. The vehicle, which matched the description of Jones’ vehicle, was followed to a bar in Midway. Police ordered Jones out of the car. Police asked the girl if she had been left alone that night. The girl told police she had been twice left alone in the vehicle while her mother looked for her father.

Jones was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and released from Washington County jail Friday night after posting $30,000 bond. She is scheduled for a Nov. 7 preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Havelka.
