Police beat Oct. 31
Two hurt: David Powell, 60, of Claysville, and a passenger on his motorcycle, Norma Taurus-Floras, 68, also of Claysville, were injured when the motorcycle crashed on Interstate 70 eastbound, a mile east of the Taylorstown exit, Buffalo. Powell was driving east in the left lane when he lost control of the motorcyle. Powell and Taurus-Floras slid along the road, ending up on the right shoulder of the highway. Both were taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. Powell was later flown to UPMC, Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Both were wearing protective equipment. Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Claysville, Taylorstown and North Franklin Township. Donegal Township police and Ambulance and Chair personnel were also at the scene.
One injured: Jesse Mendoza, 18, of Windsor Heights, W.Va., was slightly injured Friday morning when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle as he drove east on Interstate 70 in Buffalo, state police said. His vehicle traveled 20 feet before coming to rest on the left side of the highway.
Loitering, harassment arrest: Randall Lee Bell, 24, of 727 N. Main St., Houston, was arrested Saturday night by Cecil police on charges of public drunkenness, loitering and prowling at night, harassment and violating a protection from abuse order. Police were called to School Hill Street for a report Bell was in the area and trespassed onto a property. A resident of the street told police she had a protection from abuse order against Bell, evicting him from 219 School Hill. Bell was arraigned on the charges before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Assault arrest: Vincent Clark Johnson, II, 25, of 15-A Scott Drive, Ellsworth, was arrested early Sunday by state police on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of punching his wife, Hallie Johnson, in the ear. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Harassment, drunkenness charges: Rashaad Hairston, 20, of McKees Rocks, will be charged by state police with harassment and public drunkenness stemming from an incident Friday at 107 Blythe Road, Fallowfield.
Escapes injury: Samuel Neff, 31, of Charleroi, escaped injury in an Oct. 10 crash on Scenic Drive (Route 481) near Orange Road, West Pike Run. State police said he was driving north when he crossed into the southbound lane, went off the road and hit an embankment. He was cited Saturday with failure to report an accident, abandonment of a vehicle, careless driving, failure to stay in his lane and failure to drive at a safe speed.
