PITTSBURGH (AP) – The mother and brother of Pennsylvania twins whom welfare caseworkers haven’t been able to locate for more than 10 years must stand trial on charges they’ve concealed the twins, as police for the first time acknowledged they believe the missing twins are dead.

Forty-seven-year-old Patricia Fowler was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing Monday. Her son, 19-year-old Datwon Fowler, waived his hearing.

They’re both accused of lying to police about the whereabouts of Ivon and Inisha, who would be about 17 now.

Allegheny County Detective Michael Kuma testified he believes the children are dead — though he acknowledges being unable to prove that.

The Fowlers have both claimed the twins are safely living out of state, but police say their stories don’t check out.
