Happy Halloween! Before you get ready to celebrate the spookiest holiday of the year, we have a quick recap of the five most popular news stories on the Observer-Reporter’s website from this weekend!
Rostraver Township Marines Francesca Francia and Nathan Harris have won a Dream Wedding contest for military families sponsored by the Willow Room. The couple won an all-inclusive wedding complete with food, disc jockey, flowers, photographer and a wedding cake.

Bill Clinton made a surprise stop at Shelley’s Pike Inn in Houston Friday to campaign for his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Guests eager to meet Bill Clinton crowded close to the entrance of the restaurant, mixing with campaign operatives as a security detail circulated throughout the small, homey diner. Meanwhile, wait staff squeezed back and forth behind the counter, where the former commander-in-chief held court for much of the hourlong visit, and line cooks provided a backdrop as they worked in kitchen.

Muse Elementary School was temporarily locked down during a police pursuit Friday morning. According to Cecil police Chief Shawn F. Bukovinsky, Lisa J. Eckert, 56, of Canonsburg, failed to pull over when an officer attempted to stop her on Route 980 for an expired registration and no inspection. Bukovinsky said at one point in the pursuit, two tires eventually came off of the vehicle and Eckert continued to drive on the rims.

Three Greene County municipalities that currently provide part-time police services are joining forces to form a new regional police force. Greene County Regional Police Department is being created by Morris Township, which has its own police department, and Perry and Wayne townships, which currently contract police services from Southwest Regional police.

A Burgettstown woman was arrested Thursday night by Smith Township police after she allegedly twice left her 3-year-old daughter unattended in a vehicle and also reportedly assaulted three people. April Renee Jones, 28, 159 Meneely Road, is charged with three counts of simple assault, five counts of disorderly conduct and one count of endangering the welfare of children and simple trespass.
