WAYNESBURG – A portion of Rolling Meadows Road in Franklin Township will be closed for about two weeks in October for a bridge replacement project between Greene County Historical Museum and Rohanna’s Golf Course.

Construction on the bridge over Coal Lick Run will begin Oct. 10 and should be completed before the end of the month as part of the state Department of Transportation’s rapid bridge replacement project.

Jeff Rossi, a spokesman with project manager Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners, said detours will be set up in the area near Curry Road, which connects Rolling Meadows to Route 21.

PennDOT is holding a hearing later this month to allow the project manager to unveil plans for replacement of the bridge. The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 13 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Franklin Township Municipal Building, 568 Rolling Meadows Road.

A presentation will be given at the start of the meeting and project representatives from PennDOT and PWKP will be available to discuss the project with the residents, public officials and emergency responders. Construction plans will be displayed for at the meeting.

The bridge replacements are part of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a public-private partnership between the state and PWKP. The private contractor will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years, according to PennDOT. The public-private approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly and save money on the projects.

More information on the project and how to bid on the project can be found at www.parapidbridges.com. To see other bridges included in the statewide initiative and to learn more about the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project in Pennsylvania, go to www.P3forPA.pa.gov.
