Trial ordered in death of man slain after brother’s wedding
HARRISBURG (AP) – A man has been ordered to stand trial on charges he killed a man who was walking home from his brother’s wedding in Pennsylvania’s capital.
A district judge in Dauphin County sent murder and robbery charges against 19-year-old Shamir Hunter to county court following a preliminary hearing last week.
Hunter is accused of hitting 31-year-old Steven Esworthy on the neck with a wooden board during a June 19 ambush in Harrisburg. The victim was found bleeding on the sidewalk and died before emergency crews could arrive.
Officials said Esworthy was walking to a relative’s home after serving as best man at his brother’s wedding.
Court documents don’t list a defense attorney for Hunter; a message could not be left for an attorney who represented him in a previous case.
