Two I-79 projects begin Tuesday

Bridge inspections and a gas line relocation are planned along Interstate 79 in southern Allegheny County this week, according District 11 of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Bridge inspections will take place Tuesday and Wednesday on the I-79 off-ramps to Carnegie (Exit 57) in Collier Township. Single-lane restrictions will be in force on the ramps from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Crews will work on the northbound direction Tuesday, southbound Wednesday. Mackin Engineering Co., and Sofis Rigging Co. will handle the inspections.

There are no lane restrictions between the off ramps of Bridgeville (Exit 54) and Southpointe (Exit 48) during the gas line work, which begins Tuesday beyond the shoulder of the Bridgeville rest area. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday. Cardo Engineering will handle the relocation.
