Smoke, soot among causes of death of fire victim
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities say smoke and soot were part of the cause of death of a man during a fire at a western Pennsylvania home.
Fire crews in Pittsburgh pulled 61-year-old Anthony Ford out of the home in the West Oakland neighborhood after the fire was reported at about 7 a.m. Sunday.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Monday that the cause of his death was acute smoke and soot inhalation along with hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The death was ruled accidental.
A second man pulled from the home was taken to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
