Officials said a woman committed suicide by lying on Interstate 79 in Franklin Township, Greene County, early Monday morning, while the body of a man was later discovered in a wooded area in Union Township, Washington County.

Holly Ann Matusik, 46, of Waynesburg, was struck by several vehicles about 1:50 a.m. Monday, according to a release from Greene County Coroner Gregory P. Rohanna.

It appeared Matusik walked on to Interstate 79 near mile marker 14 with the intention of committing suicide, the release said.

She died from multiple blunt force trauma, the release said.

An investigation by state police and the coroner’s office is ongoing.

The body of a 24-year-old Union Township man was found in a wooded area off Route 88 in the township about 4 p.m. Two unidentified males, one from Union and one from South Park, found the body, according to Southwest Regional Police.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco was investigating and had not filed a report Monday night.
